How I Spent My Weekend...

I had so much fun this year with my gardens, we decided to increase the space!!! This past weekend we spent digging out two new beds for me to use next year!!! I'm so excited to try new fruits and veggies next year!!! I am so proud of our handy work...Ella was such a big help too!!

We have been so lucky with the weather this week. It has been absolutely amazing. Ella and I have eaten almost all of our meals outside. Tonight was especially incredible. Drew, Ella, Lily and I sat out on the deck for a few hours tonight. We have been so lucky with our incredible yard. We discussed how hard it is going to be when/if we ever move from this yard...the house is a different story.

Our awesome apple tree!!! I made applesauce, apple cake, and apple bread this week. It was the craziest thing. I walked out to the backyard, picked some apples then came in a baked...too crazy for words!!!

Sweet Baby Zoe!! Ella let Baby Zoe wear her hat today. Huge deal for us, Ella struggles with sharing her things. I was so proud for the 10 seconds it lasted!!!

Ella still adores her Mo-mo. Yesterday, she came running into the living room "Mo-mo bib, Mo-Mo bib on." I followed her into the playroom to find Elmo sitting in the baby highchair getting ready to eat. We put Elmo's bib on and Ella fed him lettuce...I'm so proud. Such a healthy girl!!!

I actually took this picture 8/28/09...she needed to wear a coat in August. No, we didn't move, we're still in Kansas City!!! I really lucked out this summer. I think we had maybe 2-3weeks of the brutal heat, and that was it!!! I loved it. Can't wait for cool weather to stay.

Yesterday, my friend Meghan, her daughter Nora, Ella and I took a little trip down to Union Station to see the Christmas Carol train. Ella is absolutely obsessed with trains right now, thanks to my dad!!!! Of course, it was the hottest day we've had in a while. We were a little disappointed that the inside of the train wasn't more kid friendly, but Meghan and I really enjoyed it!!!

These are pictures of some of the things I am growing in my garden right now. I decided to try out my gardening skills. I started back last fall adding compost to our horrible clay soil so that maybe this summer I could grow our own veggies and herbs. I've done it all organically. So far, things have turned out really well. I'm really excited to see how much we produce this summer!!!

Drew, Ella and I flew up to WI for my dad's 60th b-day. For those of you who do not know my dad, he LOVES trains. The Milwaukee Dome's had a train/lego exhibit in one of the dome's the weekend we were in town. So, of course we had to go see them. Ella loved looking at them and also running up and down the ramps. The Time Has Come....

Today has been an amazing day for our country. I have been in tears most of the morning. I think almost anyone will agree there is a different feeling about today.

On the night of November 4th, Drew and I had a conversation about our family and how we would like to raise our children. We discussed the importance of giving to others. Drew and I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to own our own company. We discussed from the beginning, we would use the company as a platform to give back to others. This year, we sponsored our first annual Harvesters Food Drive. We raised enough to provide over 3000 meals for the people in our community. We hope in the years to come, we will be able to provide even more.

I believe today is the day we ALL need to stand up and state our pledge to our country. I challenge all of our family and friends to stand up and state out loud, your own pledge to the county. Lets say it out loud so we can all be held accountable!!! Our family pledges to Feed those Who are Hungry!!! Please, make your pledges. Email them to your loved ones, write a comment on this blog. Let's change our world for our children and our children's children. Today above all days, I am thankful to be an American. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!!!!!

Drew's sister, Leslee, just returned this evening from Rawanda with their son Nathan. He is absolutely precious. Leslee was in Rawanda/Ethiopia for the past two weeks. They were welcomed home tonight by all of Drew's family and all of Anthony's family. Sweet Nathan did such a great job with everyone. He was a little overwhelmed but he did awesome!!! Ok, I know I have been very very delayed in posting for the last month or so, I apologize. Its been a busy month getting ready for Ella's first birthday. I can hardly believe I have a 1 year old. It almost seems impossible. She has been so much fun this past year and it just seems to get better and better. Drew and I are so blessed to have such a sweet, funny, happy baby. Ella rocks our world!!! So, here are pictures from this past week of festivities. My parents came in town on Wednesday so they could be here for her actual birthday on Thursday. My sister came in on friday and two of my cousins drove up from St. Louis on Saturday to be here for the party. We had so much fun. I think all families have that crazy aunt, well, in our family its Crazy Aunt Meg!!! Meg and Colby went to San Fran a few weeks ago and brought all of the neices back Chinese Dresses, I can't remember what they are called. Unfortunately, little Lucy was sleeping so she is missing from the cousin picture. Meg is sporting Grandma Marty's outfit that Grandpa John brought back from China, I think, 30 years ago. Our friend Brian turned 28 this past week. I voluntered to make his cake, a chocolate cake with chocolate cream frosting. I decided that instead of just leaving the cake with the frosting, I needed to decorate it. I know its hard to read, but it says "Giggity." Brian, Meghan (Brian's wife), and Drew all love the show Family Guy. Giggity comes from that show. I also decided he needed to have hearts all over the cake as well!!! Happy Birthday Brian!!!
Drew's grandmother and brother-in-law also had birthdays this past Sunday. I made my favorite cake, grandma's favorite as well. I also decided I needed to decorate that as well. Notice the pink and purple polka dots. I think its time to buy actual cake decorating supplies, instead of ziplock bags and maybe even take a cake decorating class. I had so much fun though!!! Happy 85th birthday Grandma and Happy 30th Birthday Anthony!!!

So, I don't have any pictures of this but, ELLA TOOK HER FIRST STEPS TODAY!!!!!!!!!!! The two of us were just playing in the living room this afternoon. I stood up and started to walk into the kitchen, there behind me was Ella, following me!!! She took three steps on her own!!! It was hilarious. I don't think she quite gets the whole walking thing yet. She was looking around like, "oh my goodness, no one is holding my hand!!!" She then took another 6 steps to try to get the baby monitor I was holding!! My sweet little baby is growing up WAY too fast!!! I promise we'll figure out how to post videos and put one up of her walking. Hope everyone is doing well!!!!

A good friend of mine from work moved to FL last week. Lindsay and I offered to hang out with their sweet little guy, Colton, for the afternoon so she and her husband could finish packing up. I was looking back through some old pictures of Ella as a little baby, I just can't believe how much she has changed. She turned 9 months old yesterday. I can't believe I've been a mom for 9 months. I have no clue where the time has gone. Ella is so fantastic. Drew will probably kill me for writing this, but he came down the stairs a couple of nights ago after putting Ella to bed and said "I am so in love with my little girl." We are so lucky to have such an amazing dog. Lily is so fantastic with Ella. Even after Ella pulls her ears and makes her cry, Lily keeps right on kissing Ella. The last few days I have spent many hours in the kitchen baking for Drew's company. I have absolutely loved peering into Ella and Lily's playroom to see them playing together. Ella and Lily play tug-of-war with Lily's ropes. It is absolutely fantastic. I was able to get all of my baking done while the "played." Thank goodness for Lily!!! We recently discovered that Ella loves eating everything we eat. She'll try almost anything. She loves black olives, mushrooms, pickles, avocado...pretty much anything we eat, she wants to try too.

Lily's 2nd Birthday

June 4th was Lily's second birthday. She of course had to have a fun dessert for the big day. Drew went to our favorite, TCBY!!! Lily absolutely loved it. She is the best dog ever. We just love her so much.

Ella Goes Swimming

We have the best community pool ever. They have the best "baby pool." I'm not sure who had more fun playing in the baby pool, Drew or Ella. Drew is convinced Ella is going to be an olympic swimming...we'll see how it goes.

So, we've been harassed quite a bit lately for not posting. I truly apologize, but we had a death in the family...the family computer died!!! Drew's 11 year old computer finally decided to kick it. More Memorial Weekend

Memorial Weekend

Ella's biting already, only Uncle Brian though. She was so funny with him. She just started yelling at him, it went on for a while. It was hilarious.
She's quite mouthy already...I can't imagine who she takes after???!!!
Ella loves corn on the cob...who would have thought?
She had to have her very own. I think we went through a couple of cobs of corn, they kept falling on the floor.

Such a big girl, she holds her bottle now. I'm not sure if its a good thing or not. It takes a lot longer to feed her a bottle now. She loves that she can pull the bottle out of her mouth and then put it back in again.

So I guess Ella loves pizza now. Drew and I had pizza for dinner the other night and I let Ella have a "taste" of mine. Well she grabbed it right out of my hands and began nawing on it. She loved it.

My First Mother's Day

Ella and I flew home to see grandma and grandpa Moulis in WI. She loved the leather seats!!! She had a little meltdown on the plane, the other passengers LOVED us!!!

Ella loves reading books, well she loves have books read to her. I think Drew and I have almost all of her current books mesmerized by now. We read at all of her nap times and at bed time. I think she's going to be an voracious reader, just like her mom!!!

Sink Time

Bathing beauty. Ella got a little dirty before bed time so we decided to just stick her in the sink. She loved it.
This is my sister's favorite picture of Ella. She thinks it is so funny how Ella is posed so perfectly with her knee popped, her elbow resting on her knee, and her head on her hand. I think we have a child model on our hands...or maybe just a ham!!!

No More Bottle for Ella

We decided that it is time for Ella to learn to drink from a glass. We're tired of this whole bottle thing, she's old enough, right??!!! She was too funny last night. She was eyeing Drew's glass, so we decided to try it out. She got a little bit in her mouth, most of it went down her front!!!
I think the glass was bigger than her face. She loved it. She kept going back for more.

They sure look sweet when they are sleeping, just like babies. We watched Drew's brother's dog, Macy, this past weekend. Lily thinks she is a person, playing with other dogs is beneath her. Poor Macy, she just wanted someone to play with. Maybe someday Lily will realize that she's a dog too.
